Hi! I want to show you the most adorable handbag I made from the Love Patchwork & Quilting Issue 45 magazine. When I first saw this Hexie Handbag from Minki Kim, I knew right away that I needed to find this hexagon cheater print! It took me a while and I searched everywhere on Etsy, but finally found it from a shop who had just the amount I needed! I was beyond excited!!
These fabrics are from the 30’s Collection by Atsuko Matsuyama and from the Old New 30’s by Lecien. I have been so drawn to these Japanese vintage inspired fabrics lately!
Once you cut out the hexie print along the printed lines, you fold under the seam allowance and then hand stitch it to the background fabric. I loved that this Bonnie & Camille background print had fun sewing words all over!
The leather flower handles are from a shop on Etsy. I thought they added the perfect touch for this sweet bag!
There was quite a bit of hand stitching on this bag, but I really enjoyed it! I think partly because of these awesome sewing needles by Clover*! They are so smooth and glide so easily through the fabric…amazing needles!
I have quite a collection of these adorable Zakka twill labels, so I added one to the corner, just to add a special little touch.
After stitching the handles in place, I didn’t like that you could see the mess of threads on the lining side, so I made some little hexies to cover over the threads…much better!
