Sometimes life can seem so unfair. I have been trying to decide whether or not to post about this but in the end, I wanted to write a little about what has happened over the past few days. On Saturday morning, we had to make a heartbreaking decision to put our sweet little puppy, Harvey, to sleep after only having him for two short days. He had a deadly virus called Canine Distemper and it had progressed to the worst part of the neurological stage. My family and I have been so saddened by this, especially knowing that it could have been prevented with a simple vaccination. We know though that we gave him happiness his two days with us with lots of love and the ability to help him not to suffer through what he would have gone through fighting it on his own.
Ok, now on to some happy sewing stuff! This is a mermaid doll kit that I made for my son’s teacher’s daughter. I added this along with this monogrammed wristlet for an end-of-school year gift. Just because I have a boy, it doesn’t stop me from buying dolls to sew! I love making them and they are fun to give as gifts. This is the Coral Queen of the Sea cut and sew kit from Moda. Everything you need, except the polyester filling, is printed right on the panel including the instructions. All you need to do is cut out around the printed dashed lines and sew together following the steps. Easy!
The panel makes one doll, a mermaid skirt, a regular skirt, blanket, pillow, and a seahorse friend named Mr. Bubbles.
I bet Coral and Mr. Bubbles get lots of playtime! This was a fun and quick kit to make! I have some other fun panel kits to make soon with farm animals…they are adorable!
